This week in Geography class we had a test over the physical and political features of East Asia. We had to know all of the capitals and countries of this region. We also had readings to do in which I learned a lot of new things. I learned that the population of China is at its highest, and are now proposing a plan in which couples can only have one child. I think this is a good idea since they have limited resources, and don't have enough for everybody.
About me:
My plans for this summer vacation is to go out of town. Some where else besides Texas or Mexico. I have never been any where else besides those places, and hope that this year I can go to Florida. If not, I have a season pass to Six Flags and can go as many times as I want.

Week 11
This week in Geography class we began learning about the region of East Asia. We read about the historical things that happened there, like wars and invasions. We also learned a little about their culture, what the people there eat, and what activities they partake in. We also drew maps of the region and labeled the countries and capitals. Then on Friday, we had a food day where we ate different foods that came from Asia.
About me:
Out of all of the regions we've studied, I want to go to Europe. I want to visit the Eiffel Tower in Paris. It looks amazing, and I want to be able to see it in person. According to the movie, Rush Hour 3, the Eiffel Tower has a resturant. If there is such a resturant, I want to someday eat there.

Week 10
This week in Geography class we learned and read more about South Asia. I learned more about their cultures, religions, and customs. There was an interesitng topic I read about in the textbook. It said that in India 42,000 babies are born every day. That's absolutly crazy. It's no wonder that India is the 2nd most populated country in the world and It's only a third the size of the United States. But the reason why so many babies are born, is that India has a high infant mortality rate. If a baby dies, the families have another to replace it. We also watched movies on Mount Everest, the tallest mountain in the world. It was all very interesting.
About me:
It's taken me a long time to think about what I want to be when I grow up, but I finally figured it out. I wan't to be an architect. I love the thought of being able to make a house they way I want it to be. I like looking at the blue prints of homes and buildings.

Week 9
This week in Geography class we learned about the current situation in Myanmar. In Mayanmar, buddhist monks are protesting its current government, which has turned its back to the Buddhism religion. The junta government has ruled for 19 years and has decided to shoot, beat, and arrest these monks. Their goal, to stop the teachings of Buddha.
About me:
This week I want to talk about my favorite super hero. My favorite super hero has to be spider-man. Besides spiders, who else can swing from building to building on spider silk? He has super strength, and gets all the ladies.

Week 8
This week in geography class we learned more about the cultures in South Asia. We particularly learned about India. We learned how in most of India there are arranged marriges. Parents get to decide who their kids marry. We had a socratic seminar (group discussion) based on if arranged marriges should continue or should be stopped. Some positive outcomes of having arranged marriges are that, everybody gets a chance to be married. For example, many people have trouble finding partners and with arranged marriges, the worry and the trouble have finding someone, is gone. Some negative outcomes however deal with a family disliking a bride, and making her do multiple tasks. And if the bride doesn't do what the family wants, she is either burned or beaten. Although there are some positve and negative things regarding arranged marriges, they are still be done in many parts of the world.
About me:
Some new and interesting things about me, are that I like to plan ahead. I like to plan my goals in life and begin preparing myself for the future. I want to accomplish many things including finishing high school and college, getting married, and raising a family. I hope to be succesfull and a role model for my kids.

Painting our house
Over the weekend, we plan to paint the inside of our house. We plan to paint the kitchen, the restroom and the master bedroom. But this weekend just the kitchen and the cabnets. I'm thinking of painting the walls a dark color like gray, and painting the cabnets brown. My house is really nice, and painting it will probably look a lot better. Right know I plan to go to Lowes (hardware store) to get the paint. Once we finish, i'll take a picture of it and show it here on the blog.
Week 7
This week in Geography class we learned about different religions around the world. We manly discussed the religions of Islam, Hindiusm, Christianity, Judaism, and Buddhism. It was interesting to find out what different people believe in. Each religon was based on a god, and the people who believe in that god did things to praise that god. Some are in ceremonies, rituals, or prayers. The whole class was put into different groups, with each group getting a religion. We had to find out as much information as we could regarding that religon and present in front of the class, what we learned. I was put into the group Islam, and was surprised to learn that their religon was started by a prophet named Muhammad. It was all very interesting to learn.
About me:
Speaking of religon, an interesting thing about me is that I'm Christian. I belive in God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit (holy trinity). I believe that God created the heavens and the earth, and that we were all put into the world by God at a specific point in time for a reason. God loves each and every one of us, and wants the best for us.

Holocaust Surviver
This week at our school, I got the privilege to see a holocaust survivor. My English teacher's great grandfather, Irving Roth, came to talk about his life during the Holocaust. As many of you know, the Holocaust was a terrible thing that happened when Germany lead by Adolf Hitler, began invading many countries and started killing people, manly the Jewish people. Since Irving Roth was a Jew, he was a target for the Nazis. He began noticing that in his country, that many rules and laws were being changed. He said that he wasn't allowed to go to the park, or even to school. He was then put into a concentration camp along with his family. He suffered there, not being able to really eat, and seeing some of his family members die there. He was later rescued by American Soldiers a year later, and was able to live to tell history. I was shocked at what he had to go through, and will always remember him, a hero who was able to live through one of the worst incidents in history. This opened up my eyes to realize that, every body is human and we should treat each other with respect, as if they are our family. I will never forget his words.
Week 6
This week in Geography class we learned more about Southwest Asia. We learned about their many cultures and religions within the country. This week we mainly focused on Iraq. In class we split up into six groups and pretended that we were a particular group of people, for example my group was the Kurds. We basically talked about what this group of people should do in the future, should they stay with Iraq or sucede(break away) from Iraq. It was all pretty fun now that I think about it.
About me:
Are you ready to hear about another interesting thing about me? Well it's that I'm Hispanic. My parents were born in Mexico and came to the United States at an early age. I was born here in Austin, and became a Mexican American.

Learning how to drive
At school, I took a drivers class. We basically learned the rules of driving and the signs posted on the street. Here in Texas we are allowed to drive at age 15 as long as you have a drivers permit and someone with you that's over the age of 21. And to get the permit I had to take a test over the rules. On that test if you pass, which I did with a 91, you are allowed to get a permit. And now that I have a permit, I drive my parents everywhere. Especially my mom to the stores. I still need more practice but i'm getting better and better. By next year, I hope to get my lisence. And with a license you can drive by yourself. Pretty soon I will have my own car, and I could drive it to school when ever I want.
Week 5
This week in geography class we started a reading a new chapter of the textbook, It's about southwest Asia. We started drawing maps of southwest asia, and started labling the countries. We also began learning about it's physical features like rivers, lakes, mountains, vegetation, and deserts. Southwest asia looks small compared to Africa, but looks very interesting.
About me:
Another interesting fact about me is that I'm really good at math. I love math. I think math is so easy and that I could do any problem there is. Right now I'm making a 95 in math. I hope to have a career that involves math and algebra, for example Architecture.

My spring break
Last week we had spring break. Which is a whole week off of school, to have fun and take a break from school. During my spring break, I went to Arlington, TX. There we stayed for two nights at a big hotel called, La Quinta Inn & Suites. It was so nice. I felt like I was living in luxury. There was a pool and jacuzzi, a fitness center, computer room, and for breakfast it was all-you-can-eat. During the day I went to Six Flags Over Texas, a theme park with some of the fastest roller coasters. Since I said in my previos blog that I love roller coasters, I got on every single one there. Including The Titan, a roller coaster that travels at 85 mph. It was all very fun and I enjoyed spending time with my family. Attached is a picture of The Titan.
Week 4
This week in class I learned more about the continent of Africa. I learned all the countries in Africa and some of the physical features there. On Wednesday we had a test over Africa. It asked about their economic situations, their past and present, and their cultures. I thought the test was pretty easy, because I know that I studied. On Thusday we also watched a movie that talked about the current situation in Darfur, Sudan. Where many people are being killed and tortured because of their race, background, and religion. I think the situation is really bad and I hope that soon, the killings will be over.
Another interesting thing about me:
Another thing that's facinating about me is that I love to ride roller coasters. Over the summer, I went to Six Flags Fiesta Texas, a theme park in San Antonio, TX. I had a blast riding on all the highest, fastest, and scariest roller coaster there. I love the feeling of gravity pushing down on me, and the wind blowing hard in my face. I love roller coasters, and if I had a chance, I would ride them all day.

Anderson High School
As you guys know the school I go to is Anderson High School. Here at Anderson, it's great!! There are so many things to do here besides learn things. There are clubs and sports that you can join. Right now I'm not in any sport, but I did play football and was in power lifting. Football was really fun and our season's record was 4 wins and 6 loses. Although we didn't do to good, we had fun and by next season, we expect to be better and win all our games. Power lifting was also fun. All we did was lift weights, and competed against other schools. I love it here in Anderson, and I hope you love your school just as much. I encourage you to participate in sports or clubs at your school.
Week 3
This entire week in Geography we discussed about the Genocide in Rwanda, also we discussed about the current situation in Darfur, Sudan. We had a seminar, which is basically a group discussion, and we expressed our ideas on the topics. I think that the situation in Sudan is a Genocide, because there are many people being killed and a lot of violence is happening. And I don't want things there to look like Rwanda, where many people died.
More information about me:

For information about me
My name is Kristopher Treviño, but you can call me Kris. I was born in Austin, TX and still live here. Austin is my favorite place because there are many things to see, like the Capital, the Bob Bullock Museum, there are also many beautiful parks that you can visit. Some things I like to do in my spare time is play with my dog, Mumble. He is a chocolate lab mix, and has blue/green eyes. In Austin, the college Univeristy of Texas, is my favorite. They are the best at sports like football, baseball, soccer, basketball, golf, swimming, and even tenis. Their mascot is the Longhorns, and I hope to be at that college one day. The life here in Austin is great, the sun is almost always shining and it's just the best place to visit.

Week 2
All this week we have learned about Africa and its sorroundings, and the terrible Genocide that happend in Rwanda. Where many people were killed because of their background. We learned that the Huttos and the Tustsi are two tribes in Rwanda that have disliked each other for a long time, and one day the Huttos killed the Tustsi, just because they weren't Hutto. It make me realize that we are so fortunate to have a place that is safe.
